Frequently Asked Questions

Referrals

  • A referral is a request for clothing or bedding for an individual or family that has been identified as needing assistance in this area.

  • At Apollos Clothing we accept referrals from organisations and local charities including food banks, churches, refuges and schools. We also handle referrals from professionals identifying those in need in their line of work for example social services, health visitors, doctors and care workers.

  • Follow this link to our referral form. Fill in the details of what items are required and please include any other details that may be relevant.

  • Remember to include the correct shoe size, bedding size or clothing size required by age or standard UK measurements needed for us to supply the best fit for the clients. We will contact you if we need more information.

  • Each individual requires a separate referral form so that we can process them individually. However, in the case of a larger project, please contact us directly on info@apollos.uk so that we can discuss your requirements.

  • No. We can only accept referrals from organisations or referring individuals.

  • People can find themselves in a personal crisis for a number of reasons. At Apollos Clothing we are not here to ask questions about circumstances or situations. There are many occurrences that cause individuals to struggle in areas of housing, food, bills and clothes. We aim to provide clothing to relieve some of the pressure that those in need are facing.

  • Apollos Clothing can offer shoes, clothes and bedding for adults and children of all ages. We rely on kind donations from the general public, and so we cannot guarantee to provide every single item requested. But we will do our best to supply what is needed.

  • A referral will usually take a few days to complete. It may take longer in busy periods.

  • We use personal information in accordance with the Apollos Clothing GDPR Policy.

  • At Apollos Clothing we have a skilled and dedicated Sewing Squad. They upcycle and craft donated bed sheets, curtains and large items into beautiful tote bags for the referrals. This utilises our donations, is great for the environment and gives the clients a gorgeous homemade freebee! For more information about our environmental impact go here. Donations

  • At Apollos Clothing we accept pre-worn, pre-loved and new clothing including shoes and coats. We take school uniforms from all the local schools. We also take towels, bedding and curtains. Even if you think Granny’s old curtains look about 100 years old (and probably are!) and the bedsheet has a stained corner, our amazing Sewing Squad can repurpose them into beautiful referral bags. We also accept accessories like bags, belts, jewellery, hats, seasonal wear, scarves, gloves and swimming costumes. If you are unsure, please email info@apollos.co.uk and we can point you in the right direction for your donation.

  • Click here for our donation points. If you would like to host one of our striking blue donation bins, please email info@apollos.uk to request one.

  • We don’t accept the actual duvets or pillows, just the sheets and covers.

  • There are many paths your donations may take. We hand select, wash, iron the best quality items for our referrals to help those in need. Any left over bedding, curtains or large items our dedicated Sewing Squad upcycle into beautiful referral bags for the clients. Some items that may not be required by our clients may be sold to raise much needed funds for the charity. We aim to reuse, recycle, repurpose as much as we possibly can.

  • We like to provide our clients with brand new underwear whenever possible. We also may purchase a specific item for a referral if required. We also use funds for less exciting things like donation bins, stationary items and sewing equipment. We run washing machines and iron all of our donations to provide the clients with fresh, clean clothing and so we also gratefully receive funds to keep that laundry train on the move with both electricity and washing liquid. At Apollos Clothing we aim to be transparent in our goals for the charity and how we achieve them.

  • Yes, extremely! Check out our Blog on clothes in landfill.
